About 3DxDEV

3DxDEV is an independent resource site for 3D artists, game developers and technical artists. We catalogue the tools that make 3D work faster — free add-ons, paid plugins, open-source projects and the AI models arriving in the pipeline — and we write about them honestly.

Who Runs It

3DxDEV is run by Maroc, a Blender developer and educator based in Oran, Algeria. Alongside this site he runs a Blender-focused YouTube channel with over 350,000 subscribers and develops commercial Geometry Nodes tools and add-ons sold through Gumroad and Superhive.

That matters for one reason: the tools reviewed here are assessed by someone who builds them. When we say a retopology tool struggles with deformation-critical topology, or that an add-on breaks on a Blender upgrade, it comes from using it.

What We Publish

  • Tool listings — a searchable directory of add-ons, assets and software across Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity, Godot, Maya, Houdini, ZBrush, Cinema 4D and Substance, filterable by software, discipline and price.
  • Reviews and guides — practical write-ups covering what a tool does, what it costs, what it requires and where it fails.
  • News — coverage of releases, with the specifics that announcements leave out.
  • Resources — a curated directory of the best free asset libraries, learning sources and communities in 3D, including excellent non-English sites most roundups ignore.

How We Cover Things

Most 3D tool coverage is a rewritten press release. We try to do something more useful:

We verify claims against primary sources. Prices, version numbers, system requirements and licence terms come from the developer's own repository or product page, not from the post that went viral.

We publish the limitations. If a model needs a 24 GB GPU, only runs on Linux, or outputs point clouds rather than meshes, that goes near the top — not buried at the end. Knowing a tool will not work for you is more valuable than another list of features.

We correct the hype. When a viral post overstates what something does, we say so and explain what it actually does. That is often the most useful thing we publish.

We recommend free tools over paid ones when they are good enough. Including in articles that carry affiliate links.

How the Site Is Funded

Through affiliate links and advertising. Some links earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This has never determined what we cover or what we conclude — full details are in our disclaimer and affiliate disclosure.

Submit a Tool

Built something, or use something that belongs here? Submit it. We review every submission and feature tools with full credit to their creators. There is no charge, and paying is not an option — we do not sell placements.
