A release label helps you understand support policy. It does not prove that your Blender character, animation packages and build target are ready for that release. Use a small pipeline test to make the decision concrete.
Separate support policy from project compatibility
Read Unity’s current release and support information, then list the packages and platform requirements your project depends on. Record the exact editor build under evaluation. Avoid describing an unspecified “Unity 6” result as though every release in the family behaves identically.
Search interest in “Unity 6 LTS” can identify a useful reader question, but it cannot tell you which editor your project should use.
Run a character-focused trial
Duplicate a known-good project and import one representative Blender character. Confirm the rig configuration, the character’s own clips and any retargeted motion. Then run the game scene with its actual controller, animation blending and camera.
Make a minor source revision and reimport. Check that materials, references and animation setup remain correct. Build for the real target platform when that is part of your acceptance criteria; editor playback alone does not verify a player build.
Write a release decision you can revisit
Record which tests passed, what needs repair and the cost of the unresolved work. Include the editor version and package versions alongside the result. If a required package blocks migration, that concrete dependency should carry more weight than broad enthusiasm for a newer release.
Keep the stable project available until the trial passes. A reversible evaluation lets you learn from the release without turning the experiment into an emergency migration.
