Simple Deform Helper — Visual Gizmos for Blender’s Deform Modifier

Simple Deform Helper is a small free add-on that adds interactive on-screen controls for Blender's Simple Deform modifier — bend, twist, taper and stretch.

Why the Modifier Is Awkward Without It

Simple Deform is genuinely useful and genuinely fiddly. Its result depends on the modifier's axis, the deform angle, the limits, and — critically — an origin or empty object controlling where the deformation happens.

None of that is visible in the viewport. You type a number, look at the result, adjust, look again. It is trial and error on a tool that should be direct.

What It Adds

Visual gizmos in the viewport for adjusting the deformation directly. You drag instead of typing, and you see the bounds you are working within rather than inferring them from numbers.

That is the entire add-on, and it is enough — it converts a guess-and-check operation into a direct one.

Where You Would Use It

  • Bending hard-surface parts — pipes, rails, curved panels
  • Twisting — cables, ropes, decorative columns
  • Tapering — anything that narrows along its length
  • Quick shape variation — generating variants of a base object non-destructively

Worth Knowing

Simple Deform needs enough geometry to bend through. Applying it to a low-poly object produces angular results — add loop cuts along the deformation axis first.

It also remains a modifier, so it stays non-destructive until applied. That is useful during design and something to remember before export.
