Poly Haven is the single most useful bookmark in 3D. A large, constantly growing library of HDRIs, PBR textures and 3D models, all released as CC0 — public domain, no attribution, full commercial use.
It was formed by merging three earlier sites: HDRI Haven, Texture Haven and 3D Model Haven.
What CC0 Means in Practice
You can use these assets in a paid game, a client project, a film or a product you sell, modify them however you like, and credit nobody. There is no attribution requirement and no revenue threshold.
That matters more than it sounds. Most “free” asset sites carry licences that restrict commercial use or demand attribution buried in a EULA. Poly Haven removes the question entirely, which is why it turns up in professional pipelines and not just tutorials.
The Three Libraries
HDRIs — the strongest part of the site. High dynamic range environment maps up to very high resolutions, covering studio, indoor, outdoor, sunrise, overcast and night conditions. One HDRI gives you accurate ambient light, reflections and colour bleed in a single node, and it is the fastest way to make a render stop looking like a render.
Textures — PBR sets with base colour, roughness, normal, displacement and ambient occlusion maps, at resolutions up to 8K. Wood, metal, fabric, concrete, terrain and more.
Models — scanned and modelled props with PBR textures, in formats including .blend, FBX, glTF and USD.
The Blender Add-on
Poly Haven maintains an asset browser add-on that pulls the library directly into Blender's Asset Browser, so you drag and drop rather than downloading and importing. If you use the site more than occasionally, it is worth installing.
How It Is Funded
Patreon and sponsorship rather than sales. That is why everything stays CC0 and why the library keeps growing. If you use it commercially and can afford to, supporting it is a reasonable thing to do — the model only works while enough people do.
One Practical Caution
Download the resolution you actually need. An 8K texture on a background prop is wasted VRAM and a slower render for detail nobody will see. 2K is fine for most surfaces that are not in hero close-up — see our guide to why renders get slow.
