Why Cities Are a Different Problem
A city is not a modelling job, it is a systems job. Buildings must sit correctly along streets, roads need junctions that actually connect, blocks need consistent scale, and everything has to vary enough not to look copy-pasted.
Hand-building that is weeks of work, and the moment a director asks to move a street you begin again. Procedural generation is the only sane approach at city scale.

The Realistic Expectation
Generated cities are excellent at distance and weaker up close. That is not a criticism of any particular tool — it is inherent. Procedural systems produce plausible variation, not the specific, meaningful detail that makes a real street feel lived in.
The workflow that works is generating the city as context, then hand-building the block the camera actually visits. Trying to make an entire generated city hold up at street level is where projects stall.
Performance Warning
Cities generate enormous polygon counts. Before you scatter cars and vegetation on top, check what your viewport is carrying — this is one of the fastest ways to make Blender unusable. Our guides to optimising models and slow renders both apply directly.
Free Alternatives
Blender’s built-in Geometry Nodes can generate simple building arrays, and there are free scatter-based approaches for basic blocks. Neither matches a dedicated generator for road networks — which is usually the part worth paying for.
