ParaForge & ParaReload — Paralives Modding Tools

ParaForge and ParaReload are two free, open-source tools for modding Paralives — exporting straight from Blender and previewing changes live in-game.

What Each One Does

ParaForge handles export: getting a model out of Blender and into the format the game expects, without a manual conversion chain.

ParaReload handles iteration: reloading assets in a running game so you can see a change without restarting.

Why Live Reload Is the Bigger Deal

Export tools save minutes. Live reload changes how you work.

Without it, the loop is: adjust in Blender, export, launch the game, load a save, navigate to your object, look at it, close the game, repeat. Two minutes of overhead for a five-second look, which means you batch changes and guess — and guessing is why modded assets so often sit slightly wrong in-game.

With live reload the loop collapses to seconds, and you start iterating properly instead of committing to a change and hoping.

Why This Matters Beyond One Game

The pattern is the point. Every 3D pipeline has this problem — the gap between where you make the thing and where you see it. Game engines solved it with hot reload; the same principle applies to any authoring-to-target workflow.

Modding communities also produce genuinely good tooling, because modders feel the friction directly and have no vendor to wait on.

Worth Knowing

Modding tools track game versions closely, and an update can break compatibility. Check the project's current status against your game build before relying on it, and expect maintenance to follow the game's release schedule.

Being open source, the tools can be inspected and forked, which matters for community projects with no support contract.
