GeoCables — Geometry Nodes Cables

GeoCables is a free Blender add-on built on Geometry Nodes that generates cables and wires between connectors — drop in the endpoints and it runs the cabling for you, non-destructively.

Why Cables Are Worse Than They Look

Cables seem trivial until you model a few. A convincing cable needs to sag correctly under its own weight, keep consistent thickness, avoid intersecting everything around it, and connect cleanly at both ends.

Done with curves by hand, each one is a few minutes of handle-fiddling. A server rack, a workshop wall or a spaceship interior needs dozens — and the moment a connector moves, you redo them.

What Procedural Cabling Changes

Because it is Geometry Nodes, moving a connector updates the cable. That is the entire value. Sets get rearranged constantly, and a procedural setup absorbs those changes instead of generating rework.

You also get consistency for free — every cable shares thickness and sag behaviour, which is what makes an environment read as designed rather than assembled piece by piece.

Where It Earns Its Place

  • Sci-fi and industrial interiors — the classic use, where cable clutter carries the whole look
  • Archviz — workshops, plant rooms, server racks
  • Product visualisation — headphone, charger and peripheral cables
  • Game environments — set dressing that suggests function

A Detail Worth Getting Right

Sag sells the shot. A cable with a taut, mathematically clean curve reads as CG immediately — real cables droop, and slightly more than people expect. If your cables look wrong, add sag before adjusting anything else.

Watch polygon count too. Cables are cylinders, and a lot of high-resolution cylinders adds up fast; drop the profile resolution on anything not in close-up.
